JUTA taxi services - Averages about $30 per person for transfer shuttle from airport to apartment

Negril is a popular tourist destination in Jamaica, and there are several transportation options available to visitors. Here are some of the most common ways to get around in Negril:

Taxi: Taxis are readily available in Negril and are a popular mode of transportation for visitors. They can be found at the airport, hotels, and tourist areas. Make sure to agree on the fare before getting into the taxi.

Car Rental: Renting a car is a good option for visitors who want to explore Negril and the surrounding areas at their own pace. Several car rental companies operate in Negril, and visitors can choose from a range of vehicles.

Private Car Service: Private car services are also available in Negril and are a good option for visitors who want a more comfortable and reliable form of transportation. These services can be arranged in advance or through the hotel concierge.

Scooter or Bicycle Rental: Scooter and bicycle rentals are available in Negril and are a good option for visitors who want to explore the town and its surroundings at a leisurely pace.

Public Transportation: Public transportation options in Negril include buses and minibusses, which are known as "route taxis." These can be a cost-effective option, but they can also be crowded and less comfortable than other transportation options.

It's important to note that driving in Jamaica can be challenging due to narrow, winding roads and aggressive drivers. Visitors should exercise caution when driving and be aware of local driving laws and customs.

Your Destination:

Point Village Resort
Negril, Jamaica

I recommend that you fly into Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.

If you are renting a car the experience will be pretty typical in that you will go through the rental company's desk at the airport. And remember we drive on the wrong (left) side of the road. Look out-especially after turning right.

JUTA (Jamaica Union of Travelers Association) operates a shuttle bus service, and at US$30 per person it's a good value. Their desk is just outside baggage claim and they will run through the options with you and will quote the price. I have had very good experience going through JUTA.

The route to Negril takes you along the coast and will give a sampling of Jamaica's beauty, and no doubt a chance to stop and savour a Red Stripe.

Tipping is expected.
